Kamery IP

IP cameras are devices based on IP protocol, hence their name. They have a very wide range of applications, because they are used in public spaces as well as in companies and private buildings. Their main purpose is to monitor a designated area, so they are the basis for monitoring. They are an alternative to analog CCTV cameras. In order for them to work properly, we only need local network, no access to local recording equipment is required. IP cameras are characterized by high image quality, which is connected with increasingly advanced technology. Installation of the system is relatively cheap, which is a big advantage of IP cameras. The devices are equipped with network transceivers, which allows them to successfully use the Internet. Moreover, we have access to the recordings and their current work from any place in the world, being outside the home, company headquarters, or external area where the camera records the images. IP cameras differ in parameters that determine image quality, resolution and additional functionality, as well as the purpose - outdoor, indoor, for recording only during the day or around the clock.

Operating mechanism of the IP camera

The IP camera uses the IP protocol. It is a relatively small device that we connect to a computer or other device, also mobile. The recording is shared immediately, the image is seen in real time. So we can observe everything that happens in the area covered by the camera here and now. The recording is located at the indicated network address to which the camera has been assigned. The IP camera can be used anywhere. We can see the recorded image at home while on holiday, and the recording from the office, sitting comfortably in an armchair in the apartment. IP cameras have found their application especially in those places that are exceptionally vulnerable to burglary, theft and acts of vandalism. Therefore, they were initially installed in banks, public institutions and urban spaces. Today, they are increasingly common in shops, shopping malls, schools, kindergartens and private households.

How to choose an IP camera? What to consider when buying?

IP cameras are a very large product group, covering many different models of devices. To choose the right one, you need to specify your expectations and take into account the purpose of the camera. The angle of view determines how large the area can be covered by the camera. If the area is large, the viewing angle should be as large as possible. Places with poor lighting, exposed to adverse weather conditions, and all outdoor areas require a camera with a bright lens or additional lighting. High image resolution is essential if the camera is to identify faces. The absolute minimum is Full HD. The way you connect to the network is also important. This can be via Ethernet cable or WiFi. In the latter case it is worth to use 802.11ac standard. An interesting option is built-in motion sensor. The image is recorded only when it is necessary. The IP camera switches on when motion is detected. It is important to pay attention to the possibility of recording data and video. Sometimes we save the data on SD or microSD card, and sometimes on the network drive.

Some plan to expand the functionality and capabilities of IP cameras in the future or even very soon. Not all models are designed for this. So if you want to be free to combine a camera with an alarm system, check if the selected camera has this function. Some also have built-in speakers and microphones. In the case of an IP camera mounted outdoors, it must have a high degree of protection so that water, dust and other contaminants do not get inside, into the installation.
