The sensor is used to measure angular velocity in three axes. The module has a gyro L3GD20 (datasheet) of the company ST together with the voltage regulator and the necessary passive elements.


System L3GD20 has a resonator with a higher frequency than the previous model L3G4200D. This reduces the noise and vibration generated by the devices operating at frequencies of sound.

The choice of communication interface is performed through the status parameter logic at pin CS, which is internally pulled up to VDD. This means that by default, the system communicates via the I2C bus. To select SPI CS pin must be short to ground.



The system has a 7-bit address that last bit (LSB) is configured via the SDO output. The default SDO is pulled up to VCC through a resistor 10K Ohm that determines the address on 1101011b. If there is a conflict with another device, you can change the address by connecting the SDO to the masses. This will change the last bit LSB set to 0. The manufacturer indicates that the system works flawlessly, for a frequency of 400 kHz I2C fast mode). Above this value, interference may occur in the transmission.
