THT carbon resistors - basic electronic components
Resistors, next to capacitors, LEDs and transistors, are the most popular electronic components.
By combining them properly with other elements we can build various electronic circuit configurations, e.g. frequency filters, amplifiers of electrical signals, switching circuits and many others. THT resistors are designed to be mounted on PCB boards as well as directly on wires.
Resistors for mechanical switches
Resistors with 1MΩ resistance are often used in electro-acoustic equipment, including guitar effects.
While switching the effect equipped with mechanical bistable footswitch the unwanted interference may occur that manifests itself by short but often very clearly audible "click" from the amp speakers. To remedy that one of the ways is to connect the 1MΩ resistor between the signal input to the effect circuit and the GND.
