Description of product: Pololu D24V6F12 Converter step-down 12V 0.6 A

Converter type step-down is used to power systems operating from a voltage of 12 V. Car system is the wide input voltage range from 3.8 V to 42 V (the minimum value depends on the voltage drop-out). The module allows current up to 600 mA is sufficient value to power ordinary integrated circuits. In our offer we have also version other voltage output and a low maximum load current up to 300 mA.


The output of the Converter 24V6F12

The module has four output output:

  • VIN - input voltage range from 14 V to 42 V, it is necessary to pay attention to the value of drop-out and short voltage pulses, which can damage the system
  • GND - the ground
  • VOUT- output voltage
  • SHDN is used to indicate the status of the low level (logical zero) causes the system to low power state (approx. 20 uA). To run the system, you must specify the high state (logical unit - voltage above 2.3 V). If the output is not being used, you can combine it with an adjacent terminal VIN.


Connectors respectively signed on the Board. Terminal pitch is 2.54 mm (popular goldpin connectors). The module can be mounted on the contact plate, to connect with wires or solder in a special printed circuit Board.


The serviceability of the Converter

Efficiency is defined as the ratio of output power to input power (Power out)/(Power in). This is a very important parameter for portable sources of energy (batteries and accumulators), which has a value of working time on one cycle charging. The efficiency of the system pulse is about 80 % - 90 %.

Voltage drop-out

The parameter stated in the documentation as a drop-out voltage is necessary for the proper operation of the system, the minimum difference between input voltage and output. For example, if drop-out is 1 Volt, and preferably the output voltage is 5 V, the voltage supply must be higher than 6V. The figures below show the voltage drop-out for converters D24VxFx.

Hazardous voltage pulses

When connecting power to the module, can appear dangerous, eclectic short pulses of high amplitude (so-called pins), which can damage the system.
