The sensor is based on a system TSSP77038 company Vishay - infrared receiver, operating at a frequency of 38 kHz. The sensor in combination with diode IR LEDS with managing the system time NE555 generates the full module distance sensor with digital output. The layout to work properly you need the voltage range: 3.3 V to 5V. The module is available in versions of detected objects at a distance up to 30 cm or 60 cm, so it can be used as a sensor to detect obstacles in the minisumo competition. The performance of the sensor depends on many external factors, such as the size and shape of the object, the type of surface to be measured, etc.
The module has four pins: the ground (GND), power (VDD), digital output (OUT) and pin code that is responsible with the inclusion of led "outgoing" (ENABLE).
The power of the sensor is applied on pin VDD must be in the range from 3.3 V to 5 V. the Voltage is below 5V reduces the power of the LEDs in the Outbox, it also reduces the range of the sensor. To use the module in full when the voltage of 3.3 V, you must run a jumper wire made through the use of additional side of the radiator (photo nearby).
The output of the sensor (OUT) the digital signal is by default pulled up to the supply voltage (a high - logic unit). At a time when the sensor detects an object, the output state will change to low (logical zero), this fact would alarm the red LED lights up.
