Types of connection blocks and their usage 

Home automation is becoming increasingly popular. There are much more electrical installations used in homes than before, which have an impact on the comfort and convenience of the household. We can no longer imagine everyday life without light and electrical equipment, thanks to which we can perform basic household activities. However, power systems in homes are becoming more and more complicated, which is due to the growing expectations and requirements of modern society. This results in the need to use a large number of connections, in which connection blocks work perfectly. Even more complicated systems are found in industrial automation with very complex installations. Because of this, connection blocks had to be modified to meet the requirements of more and more modern systems. The most frequently chosen ones include self-locking blocks, which definitely facilitate and speed up installation. 

Connector blocks also differ in many parameters. These include the maximum voltage and current of the work, as well as the clamping system and the number of cables that can be connected together. In most cases, we are dealing with connector blocks with a working voltage not lower than 250 V. We can also opt for a higher voltage up to 450 V. The load capacity of the block determines the maximum permissible current. Usually we are dealing with elements carrying current from 3 A to 20 A. There are, however, blocks that are designed to work with a higher current. 

How to choose connector blocks? 

We always adjust connector blocks to the project, its technical parameters, purpose and specificity of work. However, this may turn out to be difficult due to a lot of factors that we have to take into account when choosing. The mechanical dimensions, all electrical parameters, as well as the way we plug the cables into the connector deserve attention. Among the cheapest solutions are electric screwed blocks. They are also very universal, so they are used in many different systems and installations. They can have fewer and more pins and have a high operating current of up to 30 A. 

Assembly of the blocks is an easy task. First you have to cut off a piece of the block with as many connectors as you need at the moment, which is determined by the number of wires to be connected. Slide them into the connectors, earlier getting rid of about half a centimeter of insulation. However, it should be remembered that too short a section of insulation will not provide good support for the block, while too long block the hole for inserting the cable from the other side. Then screw the ends of the wires to the connector and check the connection. It may happen that a few electrical wires can be connected to a single hole in the connector. A sufficiently large diameter of the mounting hole is a prerequisite.
